Cardinal Health, a Dublin, Ohio-based clinical-services provider and manufacturer, packager and distributor of pharmaceutical and medical supplies, announced today that it is buying Care Fusion, a McLean, Va.-based vendor of wireless, bar-code patient identification systems for hospitals.
The deal is expected to close by the end of the month. Terms were not disclosed.
"With the addition of Care Fusion's wireless patient identification technology, Cardinal Health can now track all forms of medicine from the moment they arrive at the hospital until they are administered to patients,” said Dwight Winstead, Cardinal Health group president of clinical technologies and services, in a news release. “The acquisition also bolsters our healthcare solutions and furthers our strategy to capture data as a byproduct of care."
