May 29, 2007 - VISICU, a healthcare information technology and clinical solutions company announced the release of eCareManager v3.5, the latest enhancement to their successful eICU Program. This release integrates a state-of-the-art ICU clinical documentation system, specifically designed to support critical care workflows, and interactive two-way video.
The advanced flow sheet capability of VISICU’s eCareManager v3.5 system addresses a growing need to have documentation integrate seamlessly into nursing, respiratory therapy and physician workflows. Information to aid in the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to critically ill patients is presented in a clear and concise dashboard-style interface. The system captures frequently charted assessments of pain, neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory and skin conditions, along with other relevant patient data, to allow fast clinical assessment of a patient’s condition and accurate reporting of practice patterns.
The system is also CCOW compliant to enable the user to login to the application and select a patient, which will simultaneously activate all other applications for the patient within the same environment.
The new two-way video communications and assessment enables bedside clinicians, as well as patients and/or their families, to view the remote eICU specialist providing the support. With the click of a mouse, the eICU physician can interactively make rounds on the patients while the physician’s image and name are projected onto a 20-inch LCD screen at the bedside.
Dr. Marc Zubrow, director of Critical Care Medicine and Medical Director of eCare at Christiana Care Health System, comments “the initial vision was to provide the same level of care to all patients regardless of where they are residing. This system has helped us to achieve that by extending critical care support outside the ICU and especially to the emergency departments.”
