September 12, 2007 - Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) in Dallas has picked Siemens Medical Solutions to implement the MedSeries4 health information system (HIS), designed specifically to support rural and community healthcare providers.
The system will be implemented in early 2008 and includes solutions for patient care and enterprise resource management, as well as laboratory, pharmacy, radiology and document management systems. The Siemens IT systems to be installed include MedSeries4, NOVIUS Lab, Siemens Pharmacy, syngo Workflow, and the Enterprise Document Management and Siemens OPENLink.
MedSeries4 is expected to help TSRHC deliver state-of-the-art functionality, including browser-based workflow for clinicians, while providing a cost-effective solution that enhances the hospital's patient safety initiatives and enables easier access to patient information for physicians and staff.
“MedSeries4 addresses both our department-specific and interdisciplinary needs, eliminates redundant activities, and enables streamlined coordination of care processes, all while being a very easy system for our staff to use,” said Hunt Gregg, director of information systems at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. “We also anticipate that MedSeries4 will help us to move toward our long-term goal of creating an electronic health record for use and reference by physicians and staff in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings.”
The MedSeries4 Clinical Suite provides the flexibility needed to tailor the implementation for the unique business needs of TSRHC. MedSeries4 clinical applications will lay the groundwork for computerized physician order entry (CPOE) and an electronic health record (EHR). Medical staff will be able to readily access a current, integrated view of patient data from any Internet connection or wireless handheld device.
MedSeries4 is installed in more than 425 community hospital facilities, from small single facilities to large multi-entity enterprises, many of which were represented at the 2007 MedSeries4 Vision Conference held in Salt Lake City in April. The Vision User Group is guided by a board of directors comprised of individuals directly employed by hospitals using MedSeries4 software to further ongoing product development and successful implementation of the software.
