September 12, 2007 – Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corp. released the Camino Advanced Monitor (CAM), the latest addition to Integra's neuromonitoring product line.
The Camino Advanced Monitor is the newest offering in Integra’s line of Camino ICP Monitoring solutions. The new monitor incorporates numerous features requested by clinicians, including an improved visual display screen, an optimized interface, and an advanced ergonomic design. The Camino Advanced Monitor accurately measures Intracranial Pressure (ICP) and Intracranial Temperature (ICT) via fiber-optic technology. The system also displays Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) and Cerebral Perfusion Pressure (CPP), based on input from the patient bedside monitor.
Intracranial pressure monitoring is an essential component in the treatment of severe brain injury. The “2007 Guidelines for the Treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury,” published by the Brain Trauma Foundation, contain specific recommendations with regard to monitoring intracranial pressure and brain tissue oxygen in severe traumatic brain injury patients. The brain tissue oxygen level is monitored via Integra's Licox Brain Tissue Oxygen Monitoring System, which easily connected to Integra’s Mobius Multimodality Monitoring System via a built-in digital communication port. The Mobius system allows the clinician to monitor and record, at the bedside, multiple clinical measurements critical for the treatment of neurological injury.
