December 6, 2007 - Mary Washington Hospital used SciHealth's INSIGHT as part of its Emergency Department Patient Flow initiative to dramatically improve performance, including a 45 percent decrease in patient wait times, a 50 percent reduction in radiology turnaround time for key emergency procedures, and significant gains in patient satisfaction.
"Various performance improvement teams working on specific parts of the ED process used the INSIGHT tool very effectively. It is intuitive to them and they can quickly go in and see the latest results and how data is trending," said James Swisher, director of performance improvement.
Mary Washington Hospital, a 412-bed acute care regional hospital located in Fredericksburg, VA, is the cornerstone of MediCorp Health System. It has one of the largest and busiest EDs in the state with more than 90,000 visits per year. Many different departments were found to influence ED patient flows, and each department had its own set of data to manage. INSIGHT was used to automate a previously manual dashboard, pull together data from disparate source systems, and create alignment and visibility throughout the organization.
