February 14, 2008 - Fujitsu will show its new PalmSecure PC Log-In Kit, which uses a biometric authentication sensor embedded into a PC mouse to identify users, at HIMSS 2008 in Orlando, FL.
The company says the PalmSecure PC Log-In Kit provides healthcare organizations an advantage over fingerprint devices by providing that extra layer of security that is demanded by the patient community HIPPA regulations.
The system has already been implemented in the Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) Charlotte-area hospitals. The installation is part of a solution to effectively register a patient’s information and protect their medical records and identity. The company says it has more than 75,000 registered patients to date.
