February 26, 2008 - BoneSmart.org, a Web site dedicated to patient awareness for prospective candidates of joint replacement surgery, reported a new FDA approved robotic surgical system.

Developed and manufactured by MAKO Surgical Corporation, the surgical system reportedly offers patients less pain and rehabilitation.

Maurice R. Ferré, M.D., president and CEO of MAKO will showcase the new robotic system at the 75th Annual American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Conference (AAOS) at March 5-March 9.

Along with Dr. Ferré, one of the surgeons trained on the system, Raj Sinha, M.D., Ph.D., of John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, CA will be present the new robotic joint replacement system and procedure. JFK Memorial Hospital has the only MAKO robotic arm system currently in Southern California, said the site.
