February 26, 2008 – At HIMSS 2008, the Open eHealth Foundation said that Agfa HealthCare, InterComponentWare, and Sun Microsystems have joined as foundation members of a new Open eHealth Foundation where Open eHealth Foundation will provide software components under an Open Source license that reportedly will boost the open standards-based exchange of medical information.
The founding members of the Open eHealth Foundation aim to create a worldwide community-driven software development platform to speed up the digitization of the healthcare industry and enable members and healthcare organizations to create solutions based on existing global clinical and administrative standards, and increase interoperability with an array of third-party components and platforms, said the foundation.
