April 4, 2008 - The Harmony LED Surgical Lighting and Visualization System, showcased at AORN 2008, features pure white light from the system’s single-color, phosphor-coated LED, according to STERIS, which ensures a consistent spot of clear light that won’t cause color fringing or rainbow effects of multi-colored bulbs.
The Harmony reportedly delivers 150,000 lux of white light. The system’s Surgeon Control feature allows for the light intensity, spot size and position to be adjusted. The Harmony is designed with a color-rendering index (CRI) of 97, and an R9 value of 96.
The system also reportedly offers high-definition suspension, so video images are displayed with better clarity. High-definition signals can be transmitted from any HD image device, including Harmony’s third-arm camera, through low loss HD fiber optic cables. The suspension reportedly incorporates a helix coil/energy chain system to protect internal wiring.
The entire system is designed not to bounce or drift as headlights and monitors are moved. All Harmony LED accommodates all current video signals including: DVI, RGBHV, Component, Composite, HD-SDI, RGBS, and S-Video. The system also features 34 percent less beam heat than traditional lighting systems, and is designed to offer 30,000 hours of life.
