April 9, 2008 - iMDsoft said that University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, has selected MetaVision for operating rooms (MV-OR) as its anesthesia information management system to improve care quality and efficiency in perioperative areas.

MetaVision is a fully integrated, customizable solution for data collection and presentation, order management, clinical analysis, and decision support. In addition to automating workflows in the OR, the hospital will use MetaVision decision support tools to promote best practices and analyze results. University Hospital publishes core quality measures on its Web site.

“Our mission is to provide high quality, affordable health care through best clinical practices and resource utilization,” said William E. Hurford M.D., FCCM, professor and chair, Department of Anesthesiology at University Hospital. “We chose MetaVision because it provides a fully integrated solution to help us improve care quality, enhance financial performance, and continue our market leadership.”

“We wanted a system that would support our existing workflow,” said Gerald T. Kitchens II, M.D., assistant professor of clinical anesthesia, University of Cincinnati and assistant medical director, University Pointe Surgical Hospital. “A brief trial proved the system had the flexibility we needed. The system was easy to customize, so it fit with our group's style. Staff that were not comfortable with computers started using the system without difficulty.”

University Hospital will install MV-OR AIMS to support its entire perioperative process (pre-op, intra-op, and post-op), Event Manager, a multi-parametric decision support tool enabling timely treatment assessments, and Query Wizard, an intuitive tool for query and report generation, supporting clinical research.
