May 8, 2008 – Capsule and B. Braun Medical entered into a partnership to connect B. Braun's Outlook Safety Infusion System into clinical information systems (CIS), and add B. Braun's system to the library of medical device drivers that Capsule supports.
The DataCaptor connectivity solution reportedly features one of the largest device interface libraries available with over 370 different types of medical devices supported, such as patient monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps and anesthesia machines. DataCaptor automatically converts the medical device data to HL7 or XML format and integrates it with any Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Clinical Information System (CIS), or Alarm and Event Management system, improving clinical documentation, enhancing workflow and saving thousands of nursing hours.
Recognized as "Best in KLAS" for Smart Pump Technology in KLAS's 2007 Year-End Report, B. Braun's Outlook Safety Infusion System automates IV pump programming to reduce manual programming errors and improve safety. With features such as an extensive drug library and barcoding capabilities, the system works to enable clinicians to improve patient safety while streamlining care. Outlook is designed to ensure the right patient is receiving the right drug and the right dose by an authorized clinician. The system's open architecture design allows it to interface with hospital or pharmacy information management systems, making it customizable to various healthcare environments.
