May 29, 2008 - IntelliDOT Corp. today said it is collaborating with Cisco to enhance the wireless, hand-held IntelliDOT CAREt System bar-code point-of-care (BPOC) device to help quickly locate critical equipment.
The CAREt will be integrated with the Cisco Context Aware Mobility solution, via an open API that runs on the new Cisco 3300 Series Mobility Services Engine. The system can be used to help find IV infusion pumps, portable vital signs monitoring equipment, hand-held electronic thermometers, wheelchairs, and even patient medical charts and medical personnel.
Nurses will eventually be able to click on an IntelliDOT icon within the Cisco wireless application to locate needed supplies and equipment using the IntelliDOT hand-held device instead of logging onto a network station, thus saving time. The solution will use IntelliDOT's patented DOT technology that nurses can simply scan with the hand-held device to display the locations of the specified equipment or resources.
The IntelliDOT module will operate over a hospital’s existing 802.11 WLAN, and will communicate with the Cisco Mobility Services Engine, which will gather resource position data from access points on the WLAN and make it available for display on the IntelliDOT hand-held unit via the Cisco API.
