June 10, 2008 - World-wide inventors and leaders in radio frequency identification (RFID), bar coding, and other automatic ID technologies will gather at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA for an annual symposium organized by AIDC 100 (Automatic Identification and Data Capture).
The 2008 RFID/Automatic ID Technology Symposium is a day-long event from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008. It features speakers who will share actual business problems, solutions, and application examples such as automatic ID technology usage with national security issues, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, transportation, and energy.
The event is for those interested in learning how CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, system engineers, designers and business managers view the potential of RFID technology and its benefits across present and future. AIDC technology continues to grow and deliver significant improvements in commercial and government enterprises. The use of bar code identification of goods, product and valued assets continues but is being steadily challenged by RFID technology. As RFID evolves, it’s finding new non-bar code applications and is exploring advancements. At present RFID is perceived to be a more costly - notwithstanding the greater performance of the electronic tag over the bar code, the barcode is cheaper. But a revolution in RFID is taking place that business leaders and decision makers need to understand.
Symposium speakers include Tagsys RFID (Cambridge, MA), Shipcom Wireless (Houston, TX), Radianse (Andover, MA), Reva Systems (Chelmsford, MA), Symbol/Motorola (Rockville, MD), SAVI/Lockheed Martin (Mountainview, CA), American Apparel (Los Angeles, CA), Dow Chemical Co. (Nationwide locations), and Hewlett Packard (Palo Alto, CA).
Discussion panels include RFID research analysts who will speak on the state of automatic technology and forecast where the industry may be headed. Another panel will discuss RFID programs in higher education and student and graduate success in the field.
Symposium attendees will also tour Merrimack’s newly established state-of-the-art RFID/automatic ID technology lab - one of the few colleges in the country with such equipment for study.
The cost per participant is $199. The cost is $149 if registered by Sept. 15, and includes lunch.
