July 23, 2008 – Siemens recently announces that its SOMATOM Emotion 16-slice CT has achieved its 6,000th installation at the newly opened Portsmouth Imaging Center of Newport Hospital in Rhode Island – making the SOMATOM Emotion the most popular CT system in the world based on system sales, according to the company.
The enhanced 16-slice SOMATOM Emotion enables Portsmouth Imaging Center to not only perform routine examinations, such as brain, chest, and abdomen examinations, but also undertake high-end, detailed examinations, such as high-resolution CT angiography, which greatly improve patient care, as well as diagnostic workflow.
The SOMATOM Emotion is designed to addresses the demands of community hospitals and diagnostic imaging centers with its economical price point, low lifecycle costs and compact design. The SOMATOM Emotion fits in 200 square feet and can be quickly and easily installed, said Siemens.
With Siemens’ ongoing enhancements to this system, the SOMATOM Emotion aims to offer detailed, high-quality images with a slice thickness as small as 0.5 mm and accelerated image reconstruction times.
