August 23, 2010 – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently cleared the CXDI-70C wireless digital radiography (DR) system, Canon’s first wireless detector, which offers easy portability. Canon introduced the system today at the 2010 American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) meeting in Washington, D.C.

The system weighs 7.5 pounds, features a versatile 14- x 17-inch image area (the same dimensions as an ISO 4090-compliant film cassette) and cable-free image transfer. This provides practitioners with greater device portability and delivers fast, reliable high-resolution images. The CXDI-70C wireless DR system also incorporates a new glass substrate with a pixel pitch of 125 microns. Despite realizing a higher resolution as compared with its current 160-micron pixel pitch DR systems, the new model delivers an increased level of sensitivity.

In addition, the unit features a cesium iodide (CsI) scintillator, which delivers high-quality images while reducing the X-ray exposure to the patient. Without the use of a sensor cable, the system also enables handling similar to current film cassette X-ray systems, resulting in easier usability and portability.

Canon is also showing:

• The CXDI-50RF dynamic/static portable DR system

• The CXDI-55G and CXDI-55C very thin flat panel detectors

• The CXDI-60C multipurpose portable DR system capable of high-quality images with minimal X-ray exposure for pediatric and orthopedic applications

• The CXDI-40G COMPACT DR, with a 17- x 17-inch detector that allows for easy upgrades to existing radiography equipment

• The imagePRESS C1+ color printing solution, which produces high-quality color prints in a cost-effective way.
