During the 2010 AAPM annual meeting, TomoTherapy introduced two new radiation therapy (RT) systems. The TomoMobile is a relocatable RT system mounted in a semi-truck, which can be driven to new locations to treat patients. Two systems are currently operational. One system is being used to test the oncology market in a new area a hospital is thinking of expanding into. The second system is being used at a hospital that did not want to lose its patient volume while renovating its RT bunker.
The company also introduced the TomoHD (high definition) RT system, which has technology to increase treatment efficiency. It uses helical radiation delivery and has an onboard computed tomography (CT) scanner.
