July 19, 2010 – Elekta will showcase its broad array of intelligent solutions for radiation therapy planning, oncology information management and image guided radiation therapy this week at the 2010 American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Annual Meeting.
Elekta will also be demonstrating Clarity T, the latest addition to the Elekta product portfolio. Clarity provides non-invasive soft tissue visualization to support radiation therapy workflows. Using latest generation 3-D ultrasound specifically designed for radiation therapy, Clarity compares 3-D structures—not images—to provide accurate guidance non-invasively, without additional dose or any compromise to throughput.
Representing the latest advance in 4-D image guidance, Elekta’s XVI now offers intelligent motion management and guidance. Symmetry T motion management provides imaging tools to manage shifts in the relative positions of the tumor and organs-at-risk during the respiratory cycle. Intuity T provides critical structure avoidance by accounting more accurately for both the position of the tumor and the healthy critical structures.
Elekta also will show the new version of Atlas-based Auto-segmentation (ABAS) 2.0 software, which includes the Simultaneous Truth and Performance Level Estimation (STAPLE) algorithm to increase segmentation accuracy. ABAS deforms atlases of anatomy previously defined on a reference image onto a new patient image, creating a new structure set fit to the patient anatomy and enhancing planning efficiency.
Intelligent planning for Elekta VMAT is also available through Monaco with VMAT, which helps clinicians plan around structures effectively for Elekta VMAT delivery and predict the total dose the patient will receive.
To streamline the entire medical oncology or radiation oncology workflow, Elekta offers the MOSAIQ oncology information system. Through its image-enabled electronic medical record (EMR), MOSAIQ helps centers coordinate information management involving diagnosis and staging, planning, treatment and follow-up.
