June 30, 2010 – Fujifilm Holdings America Corp. this week announced plans to restructure its new subsidiary, Fujinon Inc. Fujinon will be reorganized into two subsidiaries, one of which will report to Fujifilm North America Corp. for the optical device business and the other to Fujifilm Medical Systems U.S.A. Inc. for the endoscopy business. The products created by the Fujinon Inc. Endoscopy Division will complement to the existing line of diagnostic imaging systems produced by Fujifilm Medical.
The field of endoscopy, both flexible and surgical, is one of Fujifilm’s targeted growth areas. Fujinon will expand its business by increasing product development in the flexible endoscopy markets and the planned introduction of its minimally invasive surgical products. At the end of April, Fujifilm Holdings Corp. announced a comprehensive, five-year, joint research agreement with Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, Pa., further demonstrating the opportunities in this field.
The change in company alignment is part of a greater restructuring of the entire Fujinon Inc. organization. Optics and lens assemblies provided to the broadcast, digital cinema and industrial markets, as well as binoculars and other customized precision optics produced by the company will now be managed as a separate business structure and a subsidiary of Fujifilm North America Corp.
