The CyberKnife VSI System by Accuray.
June 3, 2010 - The time to deliver a radiosurgery plan may be reduced by up to 50 percent, while maintaining accuracy, compared to the hybrid radiotherapy systems at the Creekside Cancer Care center in Lafayette, Colo.
The center is the first to install the new CyberKnife VSI System, a radiation therapy system is geared for treating lung cancer. It is designed to enable a range of procedures, such as radiosurgery and robotic intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).
The robotic system is engineered to provide flexibility and adaptive delivery, utilizing 3-D imaging and 6-D tracking to detect tumor motion and to automatically correct for any changes in the patient or target position.
A set of tools to manage patient care, pre-planning and post-delivery, is provided with the CyberKnife VSI System. The system integrates readily into existing infrastructure and can be installed into existing vaults designed for gantry-based linear accelerator delivery systems.
The CyberKnife VSI System is the newest addition to the CyberKnife product family.
