Fuji Digital Radiography (FDR) AcSelerate system.

January 27, 2010 - Hospitals are finding ways for technologists to work more efficiently, departments to be more productive, and patients to have reduced wait times. To achieve this, fully automated X-ray imaging that generates images sharp enough to make immediate diagnostic decisions is requisite.

To meet this need, Fuji has released its newly 510(k) approved has been received for the Fuji Digital Radiography (FDR) AcSelerate system, equipped with an automated digital table and upright system. It uses a direct image capture technology, and amorphous selenium technology, coupled with Fujifilm’s advanced image processing, are designed to produce images with clarity and sharpness. The FDR AcSelerate provides the potential for dose reduction, and a dose area product meter (DAP) is available so physicians can monitor patient dose per exam and total dose per study, which is particularly valuable for pediatric exams.

A fully automated table and upright system enable proper positioning for most general radiography exams. Additionally, its lightweight ergonomic design aims to enhance positioning. The FDR AcSelerate provides image preview in 2 seconds with cycle times of only 4 seconds, and the new FDX Console workstation is now configured to alert technologists when exams are ready to expose.

The FDR AcSelerate will be upgradeable for tomosynthesis and energy subtraction; both applications are expected to be available later this year. Both require FDA 510(k) clearance.
