December 7, 2009 – New flat-panel digital radiography (DR) detector technology that replaces the expensive active matrix array with a more cost-effective plasma system for digital image transfers was launched during RSNA last week.
EDGE Medical Devices released its QuixFP-100 Flat Panel Digital Detector with Plasma DRTM Readout Technology at the show. The company said it delivers a cost and performance advantage over traditional active matrix array based detectors, which will help reduce the costs usually associated with DR systems. The EDGE system uses a direct conversion detector that are said to be permanently zero-defect, from installation and through years of imaging. The company also said the system offers a full pixel matrix with no dead lines, pixels or pixel clusters. The plasma technology is less expensive to produce than traditional active matrix arrays.
The detector has FDA and CE mark and is packaged for OEMs, integrators and VARs as part of EDGE’s universal retrofit kit. The installation solution streamlines installation and minimizes downtime during the transition from analog to digital.
