November 5, 2009 - Shina Systems debuted its 3Di, a cloud-based advanced (3D/4D) visualization software suite that turns any Internet-enabled PC into a comprehensive image processing workstation.
3Di delivers imaging data, advanced reformatting and viewing tools, as well as powerful computer processing in a cloud environment. It eliminates costly dedicated 3D workstations, enterprise servers and inconvenient image preformatting by technologists, while providing interactive advanced visualizations any time and anywhere. With convenient pay-per-use pricing, it requires no upfront fees or commitment to begin implementation.
Meeting a range of imaging needs, the 3Di advanced visualization suite includes general multimodality 3D reformations (MPR, MIP, Volume Rendering and related techniques), vessel analysis, cardiac CT analysis, virtual colonoscopy, brain perfusion analysis (WIP), calcium scoring (WIP) and PET/CT fusion (WIP). By providing greater diagnostic information more efficiently than 2D imaging, 3D reformations help support more accurate and efficient diagnosis. 3Di technology also will enable many sites to capture additional revenue from existing image acquisition technology by adding new exam types. For example, using 3Di, multidetector CT installations can add coronary analysis with no set up costs.
A minute 3Di application, which downloads with the first use, keeps the local computer connected to the 3Di cloud. The complete thin-client 3Di suite operates seamlessly from the local PC, as the user accesses imaging data – stored locally or remotely – and processes, manipulates and views images using the vast computing power of the 3Di cloud network. 3Di will take advantage of available bandwidth and local computing power to optimize performance and speed. The user interface and all functionality will integrate seamlessly with a local PACS, while a bidirectional image synchronization feature ensures both the PACS and any 3Di offsite storage are up to date.
With imaging data stored or cached remotely, 3Di can serve as a data clearinghouse for communication with offsite radiologists, clinicians, surgeons and others who need processed images or raw data for independent manipulation. The application also provides an image communication engine for patient electronic health records. All 3Di image data is stored on remote archives with multiple redundancy and HIPAA-compliance.
