Marilyn J. Goske, M.D., Radiologist, Professor, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

September 18, 2009 - A new, free PQI program, Image Gently: Practice Quality Improvement (PQI) in Computed Tomography (CT) Scans in Children, authored by the Chair of the Alliance for Radiation Safety in Pediatric Imaging, Dr. Marilyn Goske, and co-authors at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, with funding from the SPR Research and Education Foundation, has been qualified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) to fulfill Part IV, Assessment of Performance in Practice for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) for diagnostic radiologists.

The online learning module will enable radiologists to assess their current pediatric CT practice and develop and implement a quality improvement program based on the scientific evidence provided within the module. Tools to improve practice are provided. An online survey for each metric within the module will allow radiologists to compare their practice to others who have participated in the course.

Participants will also address ways to improve communication with parents and children, minimize radiation exposure during CT scans, and review radiation dose estimates. Upon successful completion of this learning activity, radiologists eligible for MOC may record this activity as a PQI project under Part IV of the American Board of Radiology MOC requirements.
