August 14, 2009 — According to Carestream Health Inc., the company is receiving strong worldwide demand for its CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, a wireless, cassette-size digital radiography (DR) detector. The DRX-1 system was demonstrated for attendees at the annual meeting of the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) organization.

The DRX-1 system combines the image quality of DR with a rapid installation process, enabling a site to convert radiographic/fluoroscopic and general X-ray rooms to digital radiography without replacing the X-ray systems.
Recent orders from U.S. healthcare facilities include:
• Atlantic Medical Imaging, Atlantic City, N.J., purchased four DRX-1 systems for radiographic/fluoroscopic and general radiology exams at its imaging centers in Galloway, N.J., and Somers Point, N.J.
• Howard Memorial Hospital, Nashville, Ark., placed a DRX-1 order through Southeast Imaging, an authorized dealer.
• New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York, N.Y., ordered a DRX-1 System for one of its general radiology exam rooms.
• Tufts Medical Center, Boston, Mass., ordered a DRX-1 system for its orthopedic imaging clinic.
The DRX-1 system incorporates a console and a wireless, cassette-sized DR detector that provides a rapid, affordable conversion for users of radiographic film or computed radiography systems. It requires no modifications to existing analog equipment—which results in very low installation costs—and a healthcare facility can utilize one detector for many types of exams.
