Clarity CT Solution
August 12, 2009 – Sapheneia’s Clarity CT Solution software reduced CT radiation dose for patients by up to 50 percent, according to initial results from an on-going partnership with Washington Hospital Center, in Washington, D.C. designed to materially reduce CT radiation dose for patients by using Sapheneia’s software.
The partnership involves the implementation of both Clarity CT and CR Solution software in clinical production within the radiology department at Washington Hospital Center to address the growing concern over radiation dose exposure to patients during diagnostic imaging, and the need to improve CR image quality. Following the installation of Clarity, Sapheneia and the Hospital Center worked together to achieve a material radiation dose reduction on CT exams while maintaining or improving image quality and diagnostic confidence for a select number of scanning protocols.
"All radiologists need to have a program to assess and reduce the radiation dose to patients while attempting to maintain quality images,” said James Jelinek, M.D., radiology department chairman at Washington Hospital Center, commenting on the results of the partnership. “Sapheneia’s Clarity CT and CR Solutions can significantly improve the image quality for CR, DR, and CT exams especially after major reductions in radiation dose."
The partnership gives Washington Hospital Center the ability to provide the benefits of dose reduction and image quality improvement to referring physicians and their patients. The Hospital Center is committed to delivering exceptional patient-first healthcare service to the community and the Clarity CT and CR Solutions are well aligned with that commitment.
