July 17, 2009 – Codonics Inc. has introduced a new line of affordable medical image servers designed to meet increasing demand for cost-effective storage of temporary data sets or permanent archives.
The Infinity Medical Image Server combines simplicity and speed in a highly-reliable DICOM storage device. All Infinity models provide flexibility for permanent and temporary storage of DICOM images, reports and raw data in a compact unit. The unique, expandable design grows as your storage needs increase. Additionally, Infinity provides optional web viewing capabilities so medical images can be accessed over the network from any PC.
Infinity base models provide between 3 TB (terabyte) and 8 TB of storage. Expansion chassis can be added as storage needs increase. Applications such as direct modality storage of large DICOM data sets or storage of digital images in an environment without a centralized image server are ideal for Infinity.
Infinity’s unique small size was designed with server class reliability in mind. The easy-to-use interface and highly automated operation allows non-IT professionals to quickly configure and administer the system. Infinity incorporates Codonics long standing reputation for compatibility with existing modality workstations that enables users to store, retrieve and view images with their own favorite DICOM viewing software. While Infinity’s default configuration can be up and running within minutes, it is also highly customizable with a rich set of features including DICOM store, query/retrieve, storage commit, workstation access control and temporary or permanent storage of images. To ensure data is protected, Infinity provides a comprehensive set of system notifications and warnings using web, email, RSS, visual and audible alerts.
Infinity is designed to deliver simplicity, performance and reliability in a compact unit. Its high-performance architecture delivers ultra-fast data transfer speeds starting from 25 Mbytes per second to well over 50 Mbytes per second (DICOM store). This makes Infinity an ideal storage solution for large, temporary data sets from CT, MR and other DICOM modalities. Thin slices, raw data, 3D reconstructions and multi-frame studies can be quickly saved and retrieved for future reconstruction or review. Automatic image management removes older studies tagged for temporary storage whenever space is needed.
Infinity utilizes RAID5 disk redundancy, an Oracle database and hot-swappable components, plus is backed by Codonics global service and support network to provide years of worry-free operation. Infinity includes configurable access control with audit trails to assist with patient confidentiality compliance.
