July 15, 2009 - TeraRecon Inc., a developer of imaging processing technology, decision support and 3D visualization solutions, appointed of Dr. TieCheng “TC” Zhao, Ph.D. as vice president of engineering to lead TeraRecon’s engineering team into the next great wave of innovation.

Dr Zhao joined TeraRecon in 2001 when TeraRecon acquired the “Real Time Visualization” business unit of Mitsubishi Electric Corp., where he was co-creator and architect of VolumeProNET, a novel network-based volume rendering server, and the predecessor to TeraRecon’s disruptive and genre-defining AquariusNET Server, formed through the combination of Dr Zhao’s thin-client / sever-based volume rendering architecture, and TeraRecon end-user application expertise which together gave rise to the AquariusNET thin client. AquariusNET re-defined the standard for advanced visualization in medical imaging, and has now evolved into the company’s current flagship client-server solution, iNtuitionT, which offers all Aquarius advanced visualization applications via a fully thin-client/server architecture.

Previously, Dr Zhao worked as CT Physicist with GE Medical Systems, where he was significantly involved with GE’s first 4-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner, and as a research scientist at NASA. Dr Zhao received his B.Sc in physics from Nankai University (China) and his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
