Philips Digital Voice Tracer 660
April 16, 2009- Royal Philips Electronics launched a new product bundle that combines the Philips Digital Voice Tracer 660 (DVT 660) recording device and the voice recorder edition of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, a speech recognition program from Nuance Communications.
The development of this package is part of Philips’ strategy to target first-time users while also further integrating digital dictation into the everyday workflow of all business sectors.
The new dictation package combines quality recording hardware and highly accurate speech recognition software in a convenient, all-inclusive starter package that’s ideal for first-time digital speech processing users. The bundle allows users to record dictations on their DVT 660 and then have the recordings automatically transcribed with Dragon upon download to a computer.
“A recent market study has shown that the vast majority of Digital Voice Tracer buyers are first-time digital dictation users,” said Martin Koch, product manager at Philips Speech Processing. “Heavy user groups include teachers, instructors, technical consultants, students, marketing professionals, secretaries and administrative staff. Digital Voice Tracers enjoy widespread popularity beyond simple note-taking, which has prompted us to distribute speech recognition software with our products, and thus address the increasing popularity of digital dictation.”
Philips DVT 660 features audio quality through high-sensitivity microphones and six recording modes, including voice recording in MP3 format, and is equipped with 2 GB of storage capacity. Voice files recorded on the DVT 660 are downloaded into the program via USB and automatically transcribed. The Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 program removes the need for manual transcription. Given that most people speak at a rate of over 120 words per minute but type fewer than 40 words per minute, the combination of the Philips dictation package means that documents can be created three times as quickly and with a recognition accuracy of up to 99 percent.
The Philips Digital Voice Tracer 660 with Dragon NaturallySpeaking DVR Edition is now available for $139 US. Speech recognition is supported for English, German, Dutch, Spanish, French and Italian. All users can upgrade to Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred, which supports real-time speech recognition at www.nuance.com.
