This is one Covidien initiative has launched as part of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month The Web site enables patients to have direct contact with doctors in their local area via its comprehensive surgeon locator. For people who register online, Covidien also delivers e-newsletters that contain advice on managing colon disease.
According to the National Cancer Institute, almost 150,000 men and women are diagnosed with colorectal cancer in the United States each year. Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of all U.S. cancer-related deaths, and some 300,000 surgical procedures are performed to treat colon disease.
