July 22, 2008 - Barco won a notable order for its Coronis Fusion 6MP DL diagnostic display system under a PACS installation project in the Beatrix Hospital in Gorinchem, the Netherlands, as part of a larger PACS installation program carried out by Philips Healthcare.
Coronis Fusion 6MP DL is the latest extension of Barco’s diagnostic display offering. The system introduces a reportedly seamless 30-inch color LCD that can be used either as two seamless 3 MP heads or as one wide-screen 6 MP display. This makes it possible for radiologists to read chest X-ray, CT, MR, cath and echocardiogram images, or any other combination, side by side on a single diagnostic screen. The wide-screen LCD screen is combined with a display controller and an online system for automated softcopy Quality Assurance, resulting in what the manufacturer calls a turnkey solution for PACS imaging.
Barco’s Coronis Fusion 6MP DL display systems will be integrated into a large PACS installation project, implemented by Philips Healthcare. Under the same contract, the Dutch hospital also ordered Barco’s dedicated 5 MP grayscale display systems for digital mammography. Equipped with proven technology, these ‘Coronis 5MP Mammo’ systems will refine clinical diagnoses and increase productivity in the hospital’s mammography department.
