May 27, 2008 - The largest hospital in Brazil, Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo, selected Barco’s PACS display systems to replace its existing film-based radiology workflow, as part of an overall project to improve image visualization and diagnosis.
The order for Barco’s Nio displays is part of a larger PACS project, including replacement of the hospital’s old modalities with DICOM compliant devices, installation of a DICOM server and storage and setup of new workstations for image visualization and diagnosis. Altogether, the hospital ordered 23 Nio Fusion 4MP color systems with a resolution of 4MP and 7 Nio grayscale systems (dual-head) with a resolution of 3MP. All workstations will be installed in the hospital’s radiology institute.
According to Barco, the proven technology of Nio is said to significantly improve the diagnostic reading routine for a multitude of medical imaging applications, including PACS, MRI, angiography, computed tomography and mammography. Nio systems are available in color and grayscale, with resolutions ranging from 2MP up to 5MP, with a 5-year warranty.
