May 3, 2008 - Siemens is showcasing its new ACUSON S2000 ultrasound system at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Annual Meeting in New Orleans from May 3-7.

The ACUSON S2000 ultrasound system is designed to provide gynecologic and fetal imaging for 2D and 3D/4D acquisition, as well as 3D Dynamic TCE tissue contrast enhancement technology— reportedly an industry exclusive— for enhanced anatomic border and contrast resolution.

Other reported features include:

— Advanced fourSight technology for comprehensive 3D/4D acquisition, data rendering and post-processing functionality on all examinations in 2D and color Doppler

— 3-Scape real-time 3D imaging for real-time capture and display of grayscale and power Doppler volumes using both high-resolution 2D

— fourSight 4D transducer technology offering 3D/4D acquisition and multi-planar visualization

— Amnioscopic rendering for the most photo-realistic fetal ultrasound images

— Fetal heart STIC imaging, an automated acquisition of a high-quality fetal heart volume using a sophisticated algorithm that compensates for variability in heart rate

Siemens will also showcase its smallest and one of the first pocket ultrasound system, the ACUSON P10. A 2008 recipient of Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA), the ACUSON P10 weighs in at only 1.6 pounds and is reportedly small enough to fit in a lab coat pocket. It is intended for use in routine and urgent care settings, particularly in obstetrics, emergency care and cardiology. In labor and delivery, the ACUSON P10 system aims to gives physicians and midwives a quick overview of fetal positioning, amniotic fluid volume, placental location, abnormalities and miscarriage.
