October 29, 2007 - eRAD Inc. is releasing updated plug-in modules to its diagnostic viewer, including a new Mask Subtraction Module, a new 3D Volume Rendering module and an enhanced Speech Recognition module, all available as part of a user’s individual profile, functioning from inside the imaging facility or across the Internet.
The Mask Subtraction Module eliminates static anatomical structures in a series of images provided by a digital subtraction angiography (DSA) device, reportedly enhancing visualization of the contrast bolus within the vasculature. The software module detects the presence of the mask image and can automatically process the data to create a new series of subtracted images, according to the company.
The new 3D Volume Rendering Module, based on Calgary Scientific Inc.’s ResolutionMD, reportedly offers fast, high definition 3D rendering of complex medical datasets using off-the-shelf computers. This software module is designed to provide real-time rendering control, grayscale and color views, clipping planes, MIP and MPR views, customizable color thresholds highlighting specific tissue types and includes a Lens Tool that bringhtens the clarity of illustrative contextual close-ups to the digital world.
eRAD’s enhanced Speech Recognition Module reportedly adds more control for data manipulation while dictating reports into the speech recognition engine and includes support for reading multiple studies in one session. The software module also holds new voice commands for controlling the eRAD PACS viewer, aiming to decrease a user’s dependency on the mouse and keyboard.
