March 13, 2007 — Fujifilm Medical Systems USA Inc. has chosen Hitachi Data Systems, to provide a range of advanced storage solutions for Fujifilm’s Synapse Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) customers.

The arrangement is expected to support healthcare providers in securing, managing, accessing and sharing burgeoning volumes of patient imaging data with Hitachi’s cost-effective, end-to-end solution.

Hitachi Data Systems’ fully scalable, tiered storage solutions enable clinical users to store, retrieve, distribute and present clinical images and related data quickly, reliably and in a secure and efficient manner. Healthcare providers are able to cover the spectrum of requirements ranging from a departmental image archive to enterprise disaster recovery / business continuity solutions, while ensuring compliance for content preservation and retention.

“There are a number of factors contributing to the need for a continual evolution in storage requirements — more complex exams like multislice Computed Tomography (CT) scans, the increasing adoption of digital mammography systems, and now the growing integration of cardiology exams as a result of Fujifilm’s recent acquisition of ProSolv CardioVascular,” said Jim Morgan, Fujifilm’s National Marketing Manager for Network Systems. “With a reputation for delivering a stream of innovative products to meet any daunting data storage requirements, Hitachi Data Systems is an ideal partner for Fujifilm and will enable us to assure our customers have the ability to select from an advanced line of affordable products.”
