January 26, 2007 - Aurora Imaging Technology, Inc. announced that it will give a live Webcast on breast MRI reimbursement, on Monday, January 29, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. EST live, to teach 2007 CPT coding changes, address the DRA and give tips on effective billing.
Barbara J. Ossias, a Reimbursement Specialist at Aurora Breast MRI with over 20 years experience in medical imaging, nuclear medicine and radiation oncology reimbursement, will discuss how many practices today encounter barriers to payment due merely to a lack of accurate billing tools. In today’s data access environment, reimbursement is primarily driven by historical data. When practices do not have access to appropriate coding and coverage guidelines, they don’t have the correct tools to report procedures, resulting in reimbursement issues.
The live, Web-based seminar will teach participants the 2007 CPT coding changes made to the payment systems, including:
• Repeal of the 5 percent Cut to the Professional Component
• The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005
• 25 percent Reduction for Contiguous Body Part Imaging
Over the past 20 years, Ms. Oasis has provided support to the medical imaging industry with GE/Amersham Health (formerly Nycomed) as senior reimbursement specialist for the modalities of CT/CTA, MR/MRA, ultrasound and nuclear medicine. Oasis has been certified as an educator by the American Society of Radiological Technologists and Society of Nuclear Medicine, and she represents manufacturers in coalitions, including the Medical Imaging Contrast Agent Association and Coalition of Radiopharmaceuticals and Radionuclides.
