Philips announced today it is introducing non-invasive triplets monitoring using ultrasound tracing, as it extends its Trace Separation technology for its line of obstetrical care fetal and maternal monitors.
Built on Philips’ IntelliVue patient monitoring platform, Avalon FM20 antepartum monitors and Avalon FM30 intrapartum monitors use three channels of ultrasound tracing and verify coincidence between the heart rates of the mother and all fetuses to help ensure each fetus is being monitored. The monitor displays the three fetal heart rates, along with the mother’s heart rate, on a color touchscreen. Users can also assign a different line thickness to each fetal heart rate trace.
Both systems track maternal blood pressure, pulse and uterine activity, and the Avalon FM30 monitors also tracks maternal SpO 2 and ECG. Data from the monitors is automatically transmitted to the Philips OB TraceVue obstetrical information system for comprehensive information management across the obstetrical care continuum.
