SuperSonic Imagine announced the publication of the results of its prospective multicentric clinical study conducted in China to validate the performance of ShearWave Elastography (SWE) in evaluating liver fibrosis severity in patients with chronic hepatitis B (HBV). SWE enables tissue stiffness to be instantly visualised and measured in kPa. The results of the study were published in two articles that appeared in the peer-reviewed journals, Radiology and Gut.

The SBI‘s annual symposium is the largest breast imaging conference in the world and this year, the symposium will focus on Value in Breast Imaging. SuperSonic Imagine will highlight new features and better performance with features like SWE Plus and SonicPure.

SuperSonic Imagine recently exhibited at The Liver Meeting, held Nov. 9-13 in San Francisco, where the company introduced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared Aixplorer Mach 30 ultrasound imaging system. Furthermore the Aixplorer SWE has also been cleared by the FDA as an aid to clinical management of adult and pediatric patients with liver disease such as fibrosis and steatosis.

Areas that contributed to market growth included musculoskeletal ultrasound and point-of-care ultrasound, which saw double-digit growth in 2013. “In spite of the uncertainties caused by the Affordable Care Act, continued declines in reimbursement and slow economic growth, we saw an uptick in ultrasound purchases,” said Harvey Klein, Ph.D., market analyst and author of the report.
