Patients in Pulaski County, Ind., now have access to quiet, comfortable magnetic resonance (MR) exams thanks to the installation of the Vantage Titan/Zen Edition 1.5T from Canon Medical Systems USA Inc. at Pulaski Memorial Hospital. Pulaski Memorial, a critical access facility that was previously using a mobile unit to conduct MR exams, is the first healthcare provider in the U.S. to install the system. The facility is leveraging the system to conduct musculoskeletal (MSK) and neuro exams, as well as expand its abdominal imaging capabilities.

In metastatic breast cancer, prognosis and treatment is largely influenced by estrogen receptor (ER) expression of the metastases. However, little is known about ER expression across metastases throughout the body and surrounding normal tissue. Using a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer, researchers in the Netherlands have been able to identify differences in ER expression, which could help guide treatment for metastatic breast cancer patients. The study is featured in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine’s August issue.
